进入风险警示板交易的股票有两种，一种是因公司股票存在重大风险，被实施风险警示的股票，即风险警示股票，通常被冠以ST公司；一种是被做出终止上市决定但出于退市整理尚未摘牌的股票，即退市整理股票。

自2013年1月起上交所对风险警示股票发布以下特殊规定:

1.风险警示股票盘中换手率超过30%的，属异常波动，上交所可对其实施停牌，停牌时间持续至当天14:55；

2.如果在当天通过竞价交易和大宗交易累计买入的单只风险警示股票，数量不得超过50万股；

3.风险警示股票投资者只能使用限价委托，不能使用市价委托；

4.风险警示股票价格的涨跌幅限制为5%；

5.投资者需签署《风险警示股交易风险揭示书》后方可买入上交所风险警示股股份，深交所对此暂无此要求。
