上证综合指数其样本股是在上海证券交易所全部上市股票，包括A股和B股，反映了上海证券交易所上市股票价格的变动情况。深证成份股指数是具有市场代表性的500家上市公司的股票作为计算对象，综合反映深交所上市A、B股的股价走势。投资人可以通过股市大盘得知目前整个股票市场的行情。若是大盘指数在慢慢往上涨，就可以以此判断出大多数的股票都在往上涨，反之，如果大盘指数在往下跌，那么就代表当前大部分的股票都在下跌。
